Hackers' Colony
On-site web3 hackathon players' circular funding collaboration experiment
The term "colony" originates from the Latin word colonia, referring to a community or settlement where individuals collaborate to survive, grow, and thrive collectively. In nature, colonies—like those of bees or ants—embody the spirit of cooperation, resource-sharing, and sustainability. Each member contributes to the well-being of the whole, ensuring the survival of the group across generations.
In our experiment, the "colony" concept symbolizes a dynamic ecosystem where programmers, funded by our community, participate in Web3 hackathons like ETHGlobal. If they win, they return a portion of their prize (30%) to the foundation, allowing future participants to benefit from the same opportunities. Just like a biological colony, this initiative creates a self-sustaining cycle of collaboration and reinvestment, ensuring continuous innovation and growth.
